The two young men, aged 13 and 14, they were in a dirt field with a gun when one of them shot and wounded himself in the hand and the other teen in the backsaid Victorville Police Department spokeswoman Tricia Blake.

Later, one of the teens ran into the nearby Walmart store at 11896 Amargosa Road to ask for help.

Victorville Police officers were called to the scene around 7:40 a.m. and when they arrived They found the two youths with gunshot wounds, injuries that were described as not life-threatening..

The two children were taken to a hospital for treatment.

So far it is not clear how the gun was fired. Police are still investigating whether it was an accidental shot, but Blake said it appears they were in possession of the firearm and intended to shoot.r.

A gun and a magazine were recovered from the scene, police said.
