The dream of the Winter Olympics ended for the Mexican Donovan Carrillothe first Latin American to sneak into the figure skating final of the world fair, and he did it quite decently, placing himself in the 22nd place in the entire competition.
It was a good dream, even though his nerves betrayed him for momentshis performance never turned into a nightmare and the athlete managed to conclude his routine making history, showing his face and his smile on high. With the Latin stamp in his performance, to the rhythm of Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps, by Boaventura and Carlos Rivera; Sway by Dean Martin and Maria by Ricky Martin he honored his Latin roots. The Mexican raised the level of his routine and perhaps he demanded too much, because his nerves betrayed him a bit, but there was nothing to regret and his followers can be proud.
The 22-year-old, from Jalisco, added 218.13 unitsenough to finish in 22nd place out of 24 participants in the final, something that no Latin American had achieved before.
“I believe that We have obtained very good results. The most important thing is that I enjoyed, despite being a bit nervous, every secondtrying to fight for everything”, declared the athlete after his participation.
The podium in the competition was obtained by Nathan Chen, from the United States, who won gold; Yuma Kagiyama, from Japan, who got the silver and her compatriot Shoma Uno, who got the bronze.
