The home rental company will finance these stays with the help of Airbnb hosts and donations from the Airbnb.org refugee fund, according to a press release.

“We need help to reach this goal. The biggest need we have is for more people to be able to offer their homes in nearby countries, including Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania,” said Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky.

The initiative is part of Airbnb’s efforts to support refugees through the company’s nonprofit organization, Airbnb.org.

In total, in the last five years, Airbnb and Airbnb.org have provided temporary accommodation to 54,000 refugees. and people who have been granted asylum, who come from many countries, including Syria, Venezuela and Afghanistan.

Airbnb has not specified how much money it plans to spend to help refugees from Ukraine or how long the refugees will be housed. In the coming days, more information will be provided on how the hosts of the houses offered on their platform can support this initiative.
