Alec baldwin has given his first official interview to explain what exactly happened on October 21, the day he accidentally shot the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, with a prop gun, causing her death in the middle of the filming of the movie ‘Rust’ .
The conversation that the actor had about it with the presenter of the program ‘Good Morning America’, George Stephanopoulos, lasted a total of one hour and twenty minutes, and his interviewer acknowledged that he was very surprised by the sincerity with which Baldwin expressed himself at all times even though he is clearly still “devastated” by the tragedy.
“It was very direct. Answered all questions. He spoke of Halyna Hutchins, also of the meeting that he had with his family. He spoke in detail about what happened on set that day, “said Stephanopoulos in the morning.
Similarly, the host said that this conversation is the “most intense” he has had in his career: “I have conducted thousands of interviews on ABC News over the last 20 years and this was the most intense I have ever experienced.”
In a teaser posted to Twitter by ABC, Baldwin is shown crying as he remembers Hutchins as someone loved and admired by his peers.
“It just doesn’t seem real to me. Someone put a real bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property. I didn’t pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger, never “, are some of the phrases expressed by the actor in the preview.
The interview will air this Thursday, December 2, at 8 pm ET / 7 pm CT, on ABC and will be available later on Hulu.
At the end of October Alec Baldwin made brief statements to the paparazzi who approached him while he was in Vermont to explain that he could not speak about the accidental shooting because a police investigation had been opened about it, but he did repeat several times that the deceased was a great friend of hers.
Likewise, on his Twitter account he addressed the accident saying: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness over the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, our deeply admired wife, mother and colleague”, but this will be the first Baldwin’s extensive interview about the shooting.
