Behind the script of the long-awaited biopic are the also British Matt Greenhalgh and the French production company Studiocanal, which has subsidiary companies in the United Kingdom, where filming is expected to begin once the cast is selected.

The first descriptions of the script speak of a film that will review the beginnings of the singer in the jazz bars of London until her rise to stardom, thanks to the acclaimed album “Back to Black” and hits like “Rehab” or “You Know I’ m Not Good”.

It will also narrate the dark side of fame and her addiction problems, which led her to her tragic death in 2011, when she was only 27 years old.

Attempts to shoot a film about Winehouse have been going on without ever succeeding, being the one inspired by the 2010 book “Saving Amy” (“Saving Amy”), by Daphne Barak, one of the ones that grabbed the most headlines. , although news of the same was not heard again

Although the new project is in a very initial phase, sources consulted by Variety magazine affirm that the director wants the role of the protagonist to fall on a figure unknown to the general public.

These same people say that Taylor-Johnson is very involved in the whole process, since she was a personal friend of Winehouse.

In fact, this tape has the approval of the singer’s father, Mitch Winehouse, who has already participated in a BBC documentary on the tenth anniversary of his daughter’s death.

The life of Amy Winehouse has already been the subject of a documentary in the past, with the controversial and Oscar-winning 2015 film “Amy”, by director Asif Kapadia, who was harshly criticized by his father for not leaving him in a good place.

The BBC, for its part, has released two documentaries: One with the approval of the father, “Reclaiming Amy”, and another with the version of his goddaughter, “Amy Winehouse & Me: Dionne’s Story”.
