Apple, the company run by Tim Cook, after months of internal controversy, announced that employees have the right to discuss working conditions and salary freely, according to a staff memo obtained by NBC News.
According to company employees, these issues should be dealt with only internally, and the company disliked them being made public or leaked to the media.
But now the company is taking a major turnaround on those policies, as Apple told staff in the memorandum that have the right to discuss their salaries and express their concerns externally.
The information was released in the Apple intranet, accessible to 80,000 employees wage earners and hours of technology in the United States.
“Our policies do not restrict employees from speaking freely about their wages, hours, or working conditions.”
The document explains: “We encourage any employee who has concerns to raise them in the way they feel most comfortable, internally or externally, including through your manager, any Apple manager, support staff, people business partner or business conduct ”.
The issuance of memorandum is considered a victory for employees.
In September, Cher Scarlett, an Apple software engineer, filed a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) charge against the company, charging that it retaliated against workers for participate in a protected activity when they tried to discuss your salary. He recently struck a deal with Apple and asked the NLRB to withdraw his position.
