Ben Stiller is back with his wife Christine Taylor, almost 5 years after they announced their separation and believe it or not, the quarantine is what rekindled their romance.

The couple, who were married for 18 years, separated in 2017, but in statements to Esquire magazine, the actor said that their sentimental relationship resurfaced after they decided that it would be best for him to return to live with her and their two children. during the early days of the pandemic, as it would be the only way he could see the children during the restrictions.

“Then, over time, it evolved. We were apart and we got back together and we’re happy about it,” he told the outlet, adding, “It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected”.

Explaining his change of heart, Ben talked about mutual respect within the relationship and acknowledging each other’s differences.

“I think we have respect for the ways that we are similar and the ways that we are different. And I think by accepting that, you can really appreciate someone more because you’re not trying to make them change for you. Once you accept that, you save a lot of energy,” she expressed.

In April 2017, the couple announced their separation with a statement: “With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we have spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate. Raising our children as dedicated parents and closest friends will continue to be our priority. We kindly ask the media to respect our privacy at this time.”

Stiller and Taylor met while filming a 1999 TV pilot called “Heat Vision and Jack,” which never made it to air. And for him it was more or less love at first sight.

“When I met her, I practically thought, ‘That’s the person,’” Stiller told Entertainment Tonight in a 2007 interview. “It was like, ‘Wow, this is a great person. I love her,’” he added.

Despite the split, Taylor and Stiller continued to support each other and their family, attending events with their children and, at one point, holding hands during an outing to see the musical ‘Pretty Woman’ in 2018.
