Brazil registers 175 deaths and 18,759 new cases due to Covid in 24 hours

Brazil registered in the last 24 hours 18,759 new cases and 175 deaths associated with the coronavirus, with advancement of the omicron variant and the fluron, as disclosed by the Government on Tuesday.

Since the start of the pandemic, in February 2020, the country now has 22,323,837 confirmed cases and total 619,384 deaths, according to the most recent epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health.

The country also confirmed this Tuesday 115 cases of fluron, name given to the simultaneous infection of flu and covid, with 110 only in the state of Sao Paulo, the most affected by the pandemic and populated with 46 million inhabitants.

In the nation of 213 million inhabitants, more than 21.6 million coronavirus patients have been recovered, which represents 96.8% of the total infected.

Brazil, one of the three countries in the world most affected by the pandemic in absolute numbers together with the United States and India, registers a mortality rate of 294.7 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants and an incidence of 10,623 people infected in the same proportion.

The average number of cases in the last week recorded by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) of the 27 states stood at 9,876 daily infections this Tuesday, tripling that of mid-December and was the lowest of the last 20 months.

The average number of daily deaths in the last week, meanwhile, stood at 97 deaths, remaining among the lowest figures in the pandemic.

That increase in cases and the confirmation of the reduction in deaths tend to confirm that the omicron variant has a greater ability to spread, even among vaccinated people, but without being as serious or fatal as others that preceded it.

The Ministry of Health bulletin indicated that 170 cases of the omicron variant have been confirmed and 518 are in the study phase.

Brazil has managed to supply 332 million vaccines and immunize 67.62% of its inhabitants with a complete cycle of two doses or with a single application.
