British politician says a woman being Doctor Who leads boys to crime

A British politician has harshly criticized the new “trend” of changing male characters for female heroes, referring especially to the choice of Jodie whittaker as the protagonist of Doctor who.

“Everywhere there seems to be a call from a small and very vocal minority that every male character, or good role model, should have a female replacement,” he said. Nick fletcher of the conservative party, when addressing the Parliament.

The remarks come at the same time as Jodie Whittaker reaches her final season of Doctor Who, though the comments weren’t exclusive to the British series, previously starring only men.

British politician criticizes female heroes

Fletcher stated that replacing male characters with female counterparts is depriving young men of role models and thus pushing them to commit crimes.

“We have seen Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Luke Skywalker, The Equalizer, all replaced by women. And the men get the Krays and Tommy Shelby. Is it any wonder why we are seeing so many young people committing crimes? “

Fletcher’s counterexamples are references to criminals depicted in the popular series Secrets of the Krays and Peaker Blinders. The conservative’s statements were criticized in British social networks and politicians in the country.

The deputy Ruth Cadbury replied to Fletcher with a tweet: “After a decade in power, it is clear that this administration has run out of ideas to tackle crime if they seek to blame Doctor Who.”
