Because of Ómicron variant, they would suspend Los Ángeles Azules concert

The authorities have been informing the population about the increase in COVID-19 cases in Mexico in relation to the Omicron variant, which is why the head of government of Mexico City noted that the Los Angeles Azules concert that was scheduled for December 31, could be suspended.

“We can report that infections are increasing slightly, as I said yesterday, but not hospitalizations or deaths.”

Previously, it was warned that Mexico would face a harsh winter due to the variant detected in South Africa at the end of November and that it has spread very quickly worldwide since it has already been detected in 95 countries.

Los Ángeles Azules suffer the consequences for Ómicron

The concert will not be canceled, only suspended

The president pointed out that in Mexico there are few cases of the new variant and this has nothing to do with the increase in hospitalizations, but acknowledged that although there is a decrease in hospitalized patients, the number is growing little by little.

“We are evaluating the theme of the concert on December 31, given the increase in the number of infections, later we will be giving this report.”

In the event that the Los Ángeles Azules concert is canceled, it would be solely as a precaution, but it would not be an alert, but rather a preventive measure to avoid an increase in COVID-19 infections.

“Not cancel it, but postpone it.”

Although the situation in Mexico is not worrisome, she asked the population to follow the measures to prevent the coronavirus, and more so now, that the variant is already circulating on Mexican territory.

What is the Omicron variant of COVID-19?

The strain has been circulating around the world for just over a month

It is the most recent strain of COVID-19 found in the world and was discovered in South Africa that has generated worldwide concern as it appears to be more contagious, although less dangerous, according to what has been seen in recent weeks.

In Mexico, approximately 50 cases of the strain have been detected, therefore the Los Ángeles Azules concert in the Mexican capital would be suspended for prevention of contagion of the Omicron variant.
