The Mexican pilot Sergio “Checo” Pérez he almost managed to take third place in the Qatar Grand Prix of Formula 1. However, an error by the team ended up sending him to fourth position.
After coming out in 11th place on the grid, “Checo” was able to climb each of the positions to touch the third place, which was ultimately unable to consolidate due to what it described as a “bad strategy” by Redbull.
In a brilliant career The Mexican prevailed against his closest opponents Esteban Ocon and Lando Norris, who gave him battle during the competition, but was finally able to pass them.
On lap 42 the team told Checo over the radio that he should enter the pits, which he did not think was necessary because his tires were still alive enough to finish the race.
Nevertheless, the team brought him in and lost considerable time that made it impossible for him to climb to the third box that was occupied by the Spanish Fernando Alonso.
At the end of the race, in which Lewis Hamilton ranked first and Max Verstappen second, Checo held a conversation with the engineer of the team, where he showed his discontent.
“Fernando Alonso was saved by the Virtual Safety Car,” said the engineer, and the Mexican responded “No, I think we were wrong today, friend.”.
