As part of its operational tactics, the Jalisco Cartel – New Generation (CJNG) deployed a series of pamphlets in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, intending to send a message to a member of an opposing group operating in the state.
It was on the morning of Tuesday, July 11 – before state prosecutors and municipal police officers were attacked with explosives in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga – when residents of Teocaltiche reported that flyers signed with the initials “CJNG,” about the criminal organization led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, began to fall from a small plane.
The upper part of the flyers read “FOR THE PEOPLE OF TEOCALTICHE,” as it was addressed to the civilian population. In that section, they claimed to be “principled” traffickers who respect people not involved in criminal activities.
“First, to reiterate that the conflict is not with you and never has been, there has always been respect and admiration for being people who have dedicated themselves to work honestly. We value and care for your person, and it has always been this war to return peace and tranquility. We are principled drug traffickers, who know how to fight without harming innocent people,” the circulars read.
Meanwhile, the second part referred to a subject identified by the name of Mario, who was said to have the support of the military to obtain explosive devices, in addition to having the backing of the government.
“We are not like you, Mario and Ramón, and all your bunch of fu***** ungrateful Cazcans that not even with your fucking drones have been able to stop us. Now they are even asking for support from the military to obtain explosives that they provide them without caring about the damage they can cause to innocent people. Everyone in the municipality should realize that Mario and his people work with the government,” they added.
In this way, the criminal group called on the population “not to lend their homes” to fight the CJNG. “Go out and fight like men. This war continues. Jalisco belongs to the people of Jalisco. Att: 4 letters of terror,” reads the final part of the communiqué.
It is presumed that the message was addressed to Mario Gonzalez Martinez, a Sinaloa Cartel operator in Jalisco, who has even been identified as a friend of Ivan Archivaldo Guzman, leader of Los Chaptitos. Ramon Gonzalez is his brother, who also works for the same criminal organization.
This is not the first time the CJNG has issued this communiqué from above. In March 2022, residents of the municipality of Teocaltiche indicated that a small plane crossed the sky and began dropping printed messages.
“A call to all the civil society of Teocaltiche and Villa Hidalgo and all the authorities are informed that the fight is not against you but with the enemy you have had for many years,” was how the leaflets began.
They also accused “Mario Gonzalez and his people,” with some corrupt authorities, of provoking disappearances, extortion, and homicides. In this sense, they announced a “clean-up” in the region to eliminate Sinaloa Cartel operators seeking to settle in the state.
These actions followed several armed confrontations in Teocaltiche on March 4.
