In recent weeks, intelligence operatives from the army have led to the arrest of a dozen leaders who are members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which in turn has resulted in an escalation of violence in Michoacan, Zacatecas and Colima.
The federal government’s offensive includes the deployment of its elite military to confront and arrest its leaders in Tierra Caliente, where it had advanced since last year and had a confrontation with the Michoacán cartels that even joined forces to confront it.
According to information published by the Milenio Digital portal, the CJNG is facing one of its worst crises, not only living under siege from military forces, but also from its enemies.
The CJNG is being hit
The incursion of the Army in Tepalcatepec and Aguililla, Michoacán, the deployment of the Navy in Manzanillo, and the arrests of leaders such as ‘Don Carlos’ in Puerto Vallarta, El Fantasma in Zacatecas, or El Mencho’s wife last year, They are part of the results.
In the last three months, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in coordination with the Armed Forces, have undertaken operations that have cornered the CJNG operators, as well as the relatives of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, “El Mencho”.
In Jalisco, operations have also been carried out to find the whereabouts of Laisha Michel Oseguera González, the capo’s daughter. In Zacatecas, the CJNG is also fighting a battle against its rivals Los Flechas, of Ismael, El Mayo, Zambada, the armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel.
The CJNG fragmented in Colima
While, in Colima, the CJNG fragmented after the riot in the state prison where nine inmates died and the armed group Los Mezcales emerged. In Jalisco, the Guadalajara metropolitan area is facing a bloody war between drug dealers.
So far this month, more than thirty people have been executed, in what appears to be another new fracture of the CJNG in its structure. The CJNG has lost power and ground in Zacatecas. The attacks of Las Flechas Operativas have caused significant casualties.
