Climate April 14: Cold front will leave heavy to intense rains


Mexico.– This April 14, the cold front No. 51 will quickly travel along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and will cause dense clouds with very strong to intense storms accompanied by electrical activity in southeastern Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. The mass of cold air that drives the front will cause a drop in temperature in the northeast and east of the territory; “North” event with gusts that can exceed 80 km/h on the coast of Veracruz and the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec, as well as gusts greater than 60 km/h on the coast of Tamaulipas, Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatan. Likewise, an anticyclonic circulation will predominate over the rest of the national territory, generating a hot environment and little rain potential.

Very strong storms with intense punctual storms (75 to 150 mm): Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

Strong storms with very strong punctual storms (50 to 75 mm): Chiapas and Campeche.

Intervals of showers with strong punctual storms (25 to 50 mm): Veracruz, Oaxaca and Tabasco.

Shower intervals (5.1 to 25 mm): Puebla.

Isolated rains (0.1 to 5.0): Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí.

Pacific Center: Partly cloudy sky. Hot environment and west wind from 10 to 25 km/h with gusts greater than 45 km/h in the region.

South Pacific: Clear skies in the morning with an increase in evening clouds and very strong punctual storms in Chiapas and strong in Oaxaca. Hot environment and “North” event with gusts of over 80 km/h in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec.

Gulf of Mexico: Cloudy sky in the afternoon with strong point storms in Veracruz and Tabasco. Warm atmosphere and “North” event with gusts of over 80 km/h on the Veracruz coast and over 60 km/h on the Tamaulipas and Tabasco coasts.

Yucatan Peninsula: Cloudy sky with intense punctual storms in Yucatan and Quintana Roo, and very strong in Campeche, which will be accompanied by electrical activity during the afternoon and night. Hot atmosphere and “North” event with gusts of over 60 km/h on the coast of Campeche and Yucatan.
