COVID-19 tests that are sold on the internet do not have the endorsement of Cofepris

The Health Protection Agency of the Health Secretary of Mexico City issued a statement in which it warned of at least nine brands of COVID-19 tests that are sold on social networks despite not being approved by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris).

The agency called on the population to avoid their acquisition, as it warned that they represent a health risk, and in many cases they can be apocryphal and therefore their results are not reliable.

As we announced in AmericanPost.NewsJust a few days ago, Cofepris asked to avoid blood tests to detect the presence of the virus, since according to the agency, these types of serological tests use a sample to detect antibodies against the coronavirus, but are not useful for diagnosing the presence active Sars-CoV-2.

COVID-19 test brands not endorsed by Cofepris

At least new unauthorized brands are sold in Mexico. The country exceeded 4 million infections.

According to Health Secretary, the test brands that have so far been identified as not authorized by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks and that are offered on social networks, mainly on Facebook, are:

  • COVISTIX (Antigen Test for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 Virus in Nasal Swab), from Sorrento Therapeutics.
  • REALY NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (SARS-COV-2) Antigen Rapid Test Cassette (SWAB), from Hangzhou Realy Tech Co., Ltd.
  • Antigen Detection Kit (Antigen/Fronto nasal), from SZYBIO Life Origin Biotech.
