Disney World announced that, for the first time in almost two years, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has opened its doors to visitors.. Its first day of operation was yesterday January 2, 2022.
The park closed in March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic spread to the US After the closures, Disney World reopened other parks when allowed, but Typhoon Lagoon kept it closed.
It is now open and will be included in Disney World’s ongoing 50th anniversary celebration. The festivities will last 18 months starting on October 1, 2021.
Typhoon Lagoon reopening includes return of popular attractions like Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, Miss Adventure Falls, Crush ‘n’ Gusher, Castaway Creek, Humunga Kowabunga and its programs to learn to surf.
It will also launch a new frozen dessert bar menu that includes flavors of Dole Whip, and will have four new items on the menu throughout the park for the 50th anniversary, as reported on Thrilist.
Like the rest of Disney World, indoor masks are required at all times, including inside closed vehicles, according to the Disney World website. The cover-the-mouth policy was reinstated after briefly suspending it in August 2021.
As Typhoon Lagoon remained closed, Blizzard Beach had reopened. However, Blizzard Beach will now be temporarily closed as it will undergo its annual makeover, which begins on January 2.
Blizzard Beach has no reopening date at this time.
