Dwyane Wade, a 13-time All-Star former NBA player, announced this Thursday on their social networks to be part of the new group of owners of Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer in the United States (MLS).
“Excited to join the world of soccer and be a part of Real Salt Lake alongside my partners at Smith Entertainment Group, Ryan Smith and Ryan Sweeney. Let’s go!”, He wrote on Twitter in a post that he accompanied with a photo showing three Salt Lake T-shirts, one of which says Wade and wears the number 22.
On Wednesday, the MLS Board of Owners approved the sale of Real Salt Lake, located in Utah, and the properties associated with the team to David Blitzer and the Smith Entertainment Group, headed by Ryan Smith.
Along with SmithWade also owns another Utah team, the NBA Jazz, of which he has been a minority partner since April. Your son, Zaire Wade, plays in the affiliate of this team in the Development League.

The group led by Blitzer and Smith are the third-party owners of Real Salt Lake, which first belonged to founder Dave Checketts from 2004 to 2013 and then to Dell Loy Hansen, who was forced to sell the set from 2020 due to racist attitudes.
Blitzer also owns the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Devils in the NHL and the English Premier’s Crystal Palace.
Real Salt Lake, MLS champion in 2009, will debut in the 2022 MLS season on February 27 during their visit to the Houston Dynamo.
Last season, the Utah side finished seventh in the Western Conference and lost their zone final to the Portland Timbers.
