In the dim early hours of Sunday, tragedy struck on the rain-slicked Major Deegan Expressway in The Bronx. At approximately 4:15 a.m. near 238th Street, a 2018 Honda Accord crashed into a wall after its 22-year-old driver, Justin Francisco, lost control. Having pulled into the left-side passing lane to assess the damage to his vehicle, Francisco inadvertently set in motion a series of events that would lead to his untimely death.
As Francisco stood in the roadway, evaluating his car, a southbound Subaru collided with the Honda. The impact was so severe that it propelled the sedan into Francisco, flinging him into a center wall on the northbound side. Authorities reported that, almost simultaneously, a Jeep Wrangler driven by a Hispanic man struck Francisco.
The force from the Jeep’s collision was such that it sent the vehicle crashing into another wall, causing it to overturn and come to rest on its passenger side. Amidst the chaos and the twisted metal, Francisco tragically lost his life and was declared dead at the scene.
