Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán’s wife, Emma Coronel, was transferred from the Texas prison – where she was being held – to Los Angeles, California, where she will serve the remainder of her sentence. She is scheduled to be released on September 13.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) registry, the 33-year-old woman is being held in a Sea Side Avenue, San Pedro building.
Previously, the Sinaloa drug lord’s wife had spent nearly 15 months in the minimum security federal prison “FMC Carswell,” in Fort Worth, Texas, for money laundering and drug trafficking offenses.

His transfer from that prison occurred on May 30, so he is now in community confinement supervised by the Office of Residential Reentry Administration in Long Beach, Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesman Donald Murphy told Univision.

According to said media, it has not been specified whether Emma Coronel is in a “halfway house for prisoners” or a private home. What is certain is that her process of reinsertion into society can be carried out with certain freedoms.
