Elon Musk takes aim at President Joe Biden after failing to mention Tesla

It doesn’t look like the feud between US President Joe Biden and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is going to cool down any time soon.

Musk said no one was looking at Biden after the president failed to mention Tesla during his hour-long State of the Union address on Tuesday.

“No one is watching the State of the Union,” Musk said in an email to CNBC. Biden touted Ford and GM’s combined $18 billion investments to build electric vehicles.

Tesla, a giant electric car maker, was not mentioned in Biden’s address to the nation. Musk did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment.

The Tesla CEO rebuked President Joe Biden on Twitter.

Musk then tweeted directly at Biden saying, “Tesla has created more than 50,000 US jobs building electric vehicles and is investing more than twice as much as GM + Ford combined.”

The lack of a mention comes after CNBC reported on the ongoing battle between a billionaire and a commander-in-chief. Musk, who also runs the space exploration company SpaceX, has an estimated net worth of more than $235 billion, according to Forbes.

Musk previously told CNBC in an email exchange that “Biden has deliberately ignored Tesla” and noted that if he was ever invited to a White House event, the administration “had nothing to worry about.” He would do the right thing.”

Musk has yet to attend a Biden White House meeting with other corporate leaders, including those with executives from Ford and GM.

Biden and top White House officials have privately signaled to allies that they have no immediate plans to invite Musk to any upcoming meetings with top executives, according to people familiar with the matter. These people refused to be named to speak freely about private conversations.

Confrontations on Twitter between Elon Musk and Joe Biden

Elon Musk has previously rebuked the president on Twitter, in late January after Biden met with General Motors CEO Mary Barra and Ford Motor CEO Jim Farley in a briefing with other corporate leaders. to discuss the president’s Build Back Better initiative, which has stalled in Congress.

Musk, in a tweet, called Biden a “wet sock puppet in human form.”

Behind the scenes, the president and his team are upset with Musk’s criticism, according to more than a half-dozen people familiar with the matter.

Biden advisers have privately declined to invite Musk to future industry events, as they worry the outspoken executive will say something that could embarrass the president or the administration, according to a person familiar with the discussions.
