“Enough of hypocrisy and fashions,” says AMLO, criticizing the private jets in which world leaders traveled to Glasgow.

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, criticized the arrival of dozens of polluting private jets to Glasgow, Scotland, in which various world leaders traveled to participate in the COP26 climate summit.

They all arrive in private planes, it fills up with planes, Europe was full of planes of pure president, heads of state. They are like those who take care of the so-called civil society to the vaquita marina, they are famous and they arrive on their yachts. You know that of all the vehicles, means of transport, the ones that pollute the most are ships. Then Enough of hypocrisy and fashions. What you have to do is fight the monstrous inequality that exists in the world. This is what I am going to talk about at the UN. I’m not going to take the presidential plane, “he said at his press conference.

The Mexican president continued his criticism of the climate summits that are held worldwide and compared them to the one in Davos in Switzerland.

“Those peaks already seem like those of Davos. Do you remember the Davos summits of the technocrats and neoliberals where they were going to argue that structural reforms were the panacea?, that the neoliberal model was going to save us ?. So now it is no longer Davos, now it is these peaks ”, he mentioned.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador also criticized that world powers are increasing oil extraction as they attend the COP26 climate summit.

“The most powerful countries are increasing oil production at the same time that these summits are held for the protection of the environment, for climate change. They are considering increasing oil extraction, “he said.

The Mexican president assured that the idea of reforesting forests, a declaration agreed and signed by 105 countries including Mexico during COP26, was inspired by their program “Sembrando Vida”.

“Where do you think that idea came from? From Sowing Life… There is no country in the world that is investing 1,300 million dollars a year to reforest ”, he assured.
