Wray also warned of possible tactics by Chinese officials, saying they steal technology by using intelligence officers to “target” valuable pieces of information and companies.
Wray said American companies should be wary of working with or in China, something he has previously warned about, and urged business leaders to contact the FBI for more information on ways to mitigate the Chinese cyber threat.
Also, Wray warned that if China were to invade Taiwan, US business could see a repeat, on a much larger scale, of the economic mess of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. and the resulting international condemnation.
“As in Russia, Western investments built over the years could become stranded hostage capital, supply chains and disrupted relationships,” he said. “Companies are caught between the sanctions and the Chinese law that prohibits compliance. That’s not just geopolitics. It is commercial prognosis”, he sentenced.
Wray concluded by saying that the United States and the United Kingdom they were working together to combat this threat.
