Former Florida police sergeant sentenced for sex crimes against three women

He previously pleaded guilty to three counts of violating women’s civil rights by sexually exploiting them.

This Friday, former Hialeah Police Department sergeant Jesús Manuel Menocal Jr., 34, was sentenced in a federal court in Miami, Florida, to 36 months in prison and one year of supervised release.

According to the US Department of Justice, the accused pleaded guilty to three counts of violating the civil rights of women by sexually exploiting them.

“The police officer sentenced today violated not only the rights of his victims, but also the public’s trust,” said US Attorney Juan Antonio González, according to the statement.

“As this indictment shows, we will hold accountable those in our South Florida community who abuse their positions of power and engage in such shameful illegal conduct.”

According to the Department, Menocal kissed a woman and had her touch his private parts; a second woman, who was in a psychiatric crisis, performed oral sex on him; and he forced a third woman, who was walking alone at night, to submit to oral and vaginal sex.

The former sergeant also admitted to taking a fourth woman into a Hialeah Police Department building and ordering her to remove her pants and underwear.

In addition, he admitted that he was on duty and in uniform during all these acts, abusing his official authority.
