Gilbert Gottfried, American comedy legend, dies

the legendary comedian Gilbert Gottfriedknown for his transgressive routines, died this Tuesday at the age of 67 after suffering “a long illness“, as confirmed by his family in a statement on social networks.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” said his loved ones.

“In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, keep laughing out loud in honor of Gilbert. With love, the Gottfried family.”

The comedian, a regular at Roast format events, where various comedians make fun of and make jokes about a specific character, was one of the most iconic and recognizable voices in Hollywood.

His Iago character in the English version of Disney’s animated film ‘Aladdin’ smeant a great success in his career, as well as roles in comedy films such as Mi Pobre Diablillo and Beverly Hills Cop II. His filmography, according to the IMDb portal, spans nearly 200 film and television credits.

His comedy style was appreciated for his cheeky and unfiltered way of speaking, an expert in the so-called “insult comedy” and his peculiar voice, which made it seem that he was shouting every time he spoke.
