Despite being 38 years old, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa continues to be in excellent shape, and proof of this is that his club, Salernitana, announced this Saturday the extension of his contract, for one more year, until June 30, 2024, with an option for a second tournament. As well as a considerable salary increase.
The news was given by the club itself on its social networks, allowing Ochoa to continue his European adventure, now in Italy, after a long and successful stint in Ligue 1 and not so brilliant in La Liga. In addition, the Garnet team announced the arrival of two more reinforcements, Lorenzo Pirola, until 2027 and Boulaye Dia until 2026.
Ochoa was fundamental for Salernitana to keep the category, in 15th place in the table and more or less comfortably, with 42 points, so his club did not give space for him to be tempted by another club and decided not to let him out of contract.
Ochoa’s brilliant work with Salernitana
During the 2022-23 Serie A Season, Guillermo Ochoa was active for over 1,800 minutes in 20 matches, in which he conceded 33 goals. Despite the volume of goals, Ochoa avoided several defeats and scored important points for salvation. He was named player of the day in several weeks in Serie A, for which he received praise from the Italian press.
Salernitana named the Mexican goalkeeper the MVP of the 2022/23 season.

Currently, Ochoa is concentrated with the Mexican National Team, disputing the 2023 Gold Cup as the undisputed goalkeeper of the Tricolor.
In the final stretch of last season, the Italian media had rumors that the Mexican was in the sights of clubs such as Inter Milan and AC Milan due to the probable departure of André Onana from Inter. However, it seems that this transfer will not happen.
Ochoa stood out in just six months in Italy and performed well in his matches against Roma, Inter, and AC Milan.
