Hard low for Peru: Paolo Guerrero will not be against Bolivia and Argentina due to injury

The captain and all-time top scorer of the peruvian team, Paolo Guerrero, was added this Friday to the Blanquirroja casualties for their next two qualifying matches against Bolivia and Argentina.

The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) announced the dismissal of Guerrero, who started on Thursday in the 2-0 win over Chile, where he played 60 minutes before being replaced by Jefferson Farfán.

At the end of the game, the Brazilian International player acknowledged that he is not in optimal conditions to play a full game.

“It seems that my knee does not want to let me play”, lamented Guerrero, who apparently does not finish overcoming a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury.

In addition to Guerrero, the midfielder was also previously called off due to injury Renato Tapia (Celta de Vigo) and forwards Edison Flores and Yordy Reyna, both players who are active in the US DC United.

In his place, the coach of Peru, Ricardo Gareca, has called up the midfielder urgently Horacio Calcaterra (Sporting Cristal), right winger Oslimg Mora (Alianza Lima) and forward Álex Valera (University).

The Peruvian team is in seventh position in the qualifying rounds with 11 points, three from the fifth place occupied by Colombia and which gives access to the play-off for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
