Jordan Nuñez, who has pleaded guilty to abusing his 13-year-old brother, Jeremiah Valencia, awaits his sentence in the California child abuse case.

As part of a hearing this week against Nuñez, who allegedly committed the abuses along with the father of the minor Thomas Wayne Ferguson, prosecutors showed bloody evidence of the brutal assaults.

Nuñez, 23, pleaded guilty to child abuse and alteration of evidence in relation to the death of his brother.

According to the evidence that has transpired in Court, Ferguson abused Jeremiah for long periods of time. The man used an electric collar to subdue the boy, in addition to throwing a hammer into his hands while they were in the family home in Nambé.

Following his arrest, the stepfather committed suicide in the Santa Fe County, New Mexico jail in 2018.

Nuñez, for his part, repeatedly threw the minor into a dog cage 26 x 39 inches, which ended up causing his death. Apparently, one of the cartwheels caused the death. The hammer and cage were presented as physical evidence in court as part of the prosecutors’ argument.

“Tommy was the bad guy in all of this as Jordan watched,” District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies was quoted as saying by Crime Online.

“But that’s the problem. Jordan sometimes watched and occasionally participated. He got the benefit of the plea deal because of his limited involvement, but even though it was less, it was not less. It ended up resulting in Jeremiah’s death, ”he argued.

The body of the teenager was wrapped in a plastic bag which was hidden in a container and thrown down State Highway 508.

Nuñez faces a sentence of between 14 and 24 years in prison. Tracy Peña, Jeremiah’s mother, she was sentenced to 12 years in jail after pleading guilty to child abuse.
