Hispanic man shot dead in front of NYCHA building in the Bronx

John Salgado died after being shot in the face, chest and legs outside a NYCHA compound in the Bronx.

Officers were called to “Morris Houses” on Washington Avenue, Claremont neighborhood, just before 11 pm on Saturday. Police found Salgado, 37, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical services took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, he reported. Pix11.

Until last week the city had 1,476 shootings in 2021, a 45% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels. The reports implicate younger and younger suspects shooting and stabbing in the streets of New York, presumably linked to gangs.
