The shooting occurred for an hour in the vicinity of the Hacienda Vieja communities, almost on the border with Zacatecas, after hitmen from the two organized crime groups exchanged shots with large caliber weapons.
Upon arriving at the scene, state police found seven abandoned vehicles, including an armored truck that was crashed into a Cheyenne. No injuries or deaths were reported, and there were no detainees in the operation.

Due to the confrontation between the CJNG and the CDS, the municipal president Juan Manuel Vallejo Pedroza authorized the cancellation of classes so that the residents could take shelter in their homes.
