The United States has made its country a true fortress. The whole of the Stars and Stripes has fully respected their stadium over Mexico. El Tri, for some time that does not know what it is to win in the United States. Nevertheless, For the Aztecs to have another chance to end the curse in Playoffs, it would take up to eight years.

Mexico lost undefeated last Friday at the Octagonal de Concacaf. In fact, the three defeats of the Aztec team in 2021 have been in the United States. El Tri has not beaten its greatest rival at home since the World Cup qualifiers in Russia. That victory dates back to 2016.

Now, the revenge of Gerardo “Tata” Martino, in US territory, must wait two qualifying rounds. Mexico has the turn, but it will be played in the Aztec, while for the 2026 World Cup, None of these teams will participate in the Octagonal as they host the tournament with Canada.

In this sense, Mexico will have to wait at least eight years to face the United States at home again, for a playoff game. Probably for that date there will be other interpreters and those chosen to end the bad streak of El Tri.

In the Aztec stadium if you have to win

Despite El Tri quietly qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar, a new defeat against the United States would be a complete scandal and would once again upset Aztec pride. The next match between the two will be in Mexican territory. The March 24th, Matino will face the Americans again with the sole objective of enforce the home of Mexico.
