“It is discrimination, it is fascism, we cannot allow it”: Sampaoli on brawl in Nice-Marseille

The technical director of Olympique de Marseille, Jorge Sampaoli, stated that Nice is the “Sole responsible” from the brawl at the Sunday game, and apologized to the children who saw the scene.

In a press conference to report on the impasse, the Argentine strategist indicated that they felt moments of terror after the attack by the fans.

“Rival fans attacked our players and security allowed this to happen. Some players and leaders of Nice not only did not repudiate it, but they applauded it. We came in to defend our players because no one was defending them, ”said Sampaoli.

The match between Marseille and Nice was paralyzed when minute 75, after a group of Nice fans they will invade the field and a pitched battle will be generated on the grass.

It all started after the Marseille player Dimitri was the victim of several bottles thrown from the stands during a corner kick.

“History teaches us that it is not permissible to attack another because they think differently, have different tastes or wear a different shirt. It is discrimination, it is fascism, we cannot allow it. Neither in life nor in football“, said.

Although Sampaoli assured that what really matters is that these events are not repeated, criticized that it is not fair that they cite the two clubs, when they just defended themselves.

“What I don’t understand is that they call both clubs, because there is only one club involved, which is Nice. OM has nothing to do with what happened. Any. Any. The events occurred in a way that is related to an invasion on the playing field. We went to play soccer ”, he concluded.
