Jenni Rivera, with her long career as the band’s diva, amassed countless fans, selling as many records as concert tickets; now it’s her turn to shine on the big screen.
Through the Los Angeles Times en Espanol, ViX announces the development of a Jenni biopic, revealing the name of the actress in charge of playing her.
As part of March 8, International Women’s Day, it is confirmed that a film production based on the life of Jenni Rivera is already in production. Annie Gonzalez, who has worked on Gentefied and Flamin Hot, will be the lead star and one of the executive producers.
Who will play the role of Jenni Rivera?
The film will be released exclusively on the ViX platform, and Jenni’s own family is involved in the mammoth task; Jacqie Rivera, daughter of the singer and CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises (one of the production companies), shared her excitement about the film:
My siblings and I are very excited about this biopic. We know that our mother’s story will impact generations to come. It has not been easy, but we are happy to see one of our mother’s dreams come true. Although we have not yet gotten used to seeing someone play our mother, we believe Annie will do a great job.

When and how did Jenni Rivera die?
Jenni Rivera died in a plane crash on December 9, 2012. The plane she was traveling in crashed in a mountainous area in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, while returning to Toluca after giving a concert in Monterrey.
The aircraft was a twin-engine Learjet 25 that crashed about 10 minutes after takeoff. Six other people also died in the accident, including the two pilots, the artist’s publicist, and some of her friends and collaborators.
