Gunajuato, Gto.- Today Guanajuato is on long tablecloths because after two years of being left out of the official calendar of the World Rally Championship (WRC)due to the Covid 19 Pandemic this 2022, the entity will demonstrate worldwide that the Guanajuato territory and its conditions are ideal to celebrate and experience international rallying.
today starts “The Rally of Nations 2022” in Guanajuato, Capital, it will be held from April 1 to 3. In 2009 official rules were implemented for this event that returns today, the protocols and traditions will be lived again this year, 47 crews from 13 countries will participate and the arrival of thousands of national and international visitors is expected.
The route followed by the Rally of Nations runs through emblematic points of Guanajuato; towns, communities, the mountains, landscapes and characteristic and amazing nature of Mexico, these roads were part of the Rally Mexico of the World Rally Championship (WRC) of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

That is what we will do with Rally de las Naciones Guanajuato, we see it as a way of bridging back to the WRC calendar. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but for us, the WRC is not the same without Mexico”, Gilles Spitalier, director of the Guanajuato Rally of Nations.
What is the Rally of Nations about?
The 2022 Rally of Nations is designed and planned according to the traditional Rally format. It is a competition between countries, between the winning pilots and co-pilots, the important thing is the recognition before the country that they represent in this competition between countries.
The route is the same as the Rally Mexico, so it will continue to go through the same paths of Guanajuato. The same service park will be used in Lion, and on this occasion a new surprise stage will be inaugurated. The pilots will be assigned a qualification in each stage, the first place will be awarded 45 points, the second 43 and the third 41 in that order until the 16th competitor. This idea was implemented to make the gap narrower and for crews to relax.
The logistics of the 2022 Rally of Nations competition design was based on statistical studies of rally competitions around the planet. What is sought in Guanajuato with this event is the international dissemination of a Rally that meets all the requirements to continue granting the title to the state of Guanajuato as the rally capital of North America.
After these two years of inactivity, event organizers commented that the important thing is to get fans to feel the passion for motoring in Mexico again.
“The fan base must remain active, as well as attention with the event’s official sponsors and partners, to keep the organizing team on its toes and help Mexico’s return to the WRC in 2023,” said Gilles Spitalier, Rally Director. of Nations 2022.
In the event there will be international press, it will be broadcasting from Guanajuato to 120 countries with television stations that have sports channels.
