Lewandoski: “I’m here to help Barcelona get back to the top”

The front Robert Lewandowski explained, upon arrival in Miami, the main reason that has led him to leave Bayern Munich and sign for Barcelonaand that is none other than to return the team to the European elite.

“I’m here to help Barça to return to the top and win as many titles as possible”, he stated upon his arrival in the United States, where the Catalans have started their pre-season tour.

The Catalan club will pay Bayern for the Polish international $45 million dollars plus another 5 in variablesand Lewandowski, 34, will sign a three-year contract.

“The last few days have been long, but in the end the agreement has become a reality. I am ready to face this new challenge in my career. I am a player who likes to win matches and titles. I hope that the season starts and ends well in this sense”, he told the Barça entity’s media.

Lewandowski explained that he has always wanted “play in a great LaLiga club” and that doing it at Barça is “a great opportunity” for him. “It is also a challenge for my private life,” he added.

The Polish striker did not hide that his rapid harmony with his new coach, Xavi Hernándezhas also helped him make the decision.

“From the first moment I spoke with him, I saw that his ideas fit with mine. It was easy to make the decision. I want to play and win titles and I know that with Xavi this will be very possible. He knows perfectly how to lead Barça. He was an incredible player and now he is a great coach. He has a great future and I want to be part of it, “he said.
