Linda Evangelista spoke for the first time about the nightmare she lives after being disfigured by an aesthetic retouch: “I don’t look in the mirror, it’s not me anymore” (The Grosby Group)

Five months after he announced that had been “brutally disfigured” as a result of an aesthetic medical treatment that left him with devastating physical and mental consequences, cute evangelist posed for the first time in a photo shoot for the magazine People and spoke of the ordeal he has been experiencing for more than five years.

I loved parading, being on the catwalk, and now I’m afraid to run into someone I know. I can no longer live like this, hidden and ashamed. I couldn’t live with this pain any longer. I am determined to speak out.”Evangelista declared to the publication.

“The nightmare of my cosmetic procedure”titles the publication the extensive report.

In the interview, the top model of the ’90s explained that three months after starting a cryolipolysis treatment, which cools the fat to eliminate it, she noticed that lumps on his chin, thighs, and chest, the areas that had been treated. Over time, the bumps hardened and the areas suffered a complete loss of feeling.

“I thought I was doing something wrong and tried to fix it by not eating. It was driving me crazy,” she said. In June 2016 she went to her doctor. It was at that time that she was diagnosed paradoxical adipose hyperplasiaPAH, which causes the treated area to become larger in the weeks following the procedure, leaving a “painless, visibly enlarged, firm, well-demarcated mass” under the skin.

Evangelist explained that after learning of his diagnosis, the company responsible for the treatment offered to perform liposuction to “repair” the damage caused. It was not until the night before the operation that he was informed that before entering the operating room had to sign a confidentiality agreement to which Evangelista refused.

The 56-year-old Canadian model underwent full-body liposuction that she claimed she paid for out of pocket in June 2016. A year later, in July 2017, she underwent another. However, the lumps did not take long to reappear.

“The lumps are bumps. And they are tough. If I walk without a girdle in a dress, I will be chafed to the point of almost bleeding,” she explained. Her posture has also been affected by the bulge protruding from her armpits. “I can no longer put my arms to the side of my body. I don’t think any designer wants to dress someone in that.”, pointed out the model.

I don’t look in the mirror. It’s not me”, confessed the woman who once reigned over the most important catwalks in the world and was the muse of fashion icons.

“Why do we feel the need to do these things to our bodies? I always knew I would grow old. And I know there are things a body goes through. But I just didn’t think I’d look like this”, he said, adding that he has lost his identity: “I don’t recognize myself physically, but I don’t recognize myself as a person either.”

“Linda Evangelista, the supermodel it has disappeared”, He said.

The famous model of the 90s said that she can no longer make a living as a mannequin, so she has lived the last few years “like a hermit”

It was last September when he made public, with a long text on his Instagram profile, why he had disappeared from the public scene and had not returned to the catwalks.

“To all my followers, who have wondered why I haven’t worked while my colleagues’ careers have been on the rise. I have been brutally disfigured by Zeltiq’s CoolSculpting procedure, which did the opposite of what it promised”, he explained in his publication. “It increased my fat cells instead of decreasing them and has left me permanently deformed even after undergoing two painful corrective surgeries with no success. They have left me, as the press has described, ‘unrecognizable’”he added.

And she stated that the physical scars that remained had not only destroyed her livelihood, but also led to a deep depression. “I am in a sadness wave cycle, and in the lowest depths of self-loathing. I have become a hermit.”

“I try to get rid of my shame and make my story public. I’m so tired of living this way. I would like to walk out the door of my house with my head held high, even though I no longer look like myself.he expressed in his publication.

The former model received all kinds of signs of affection after making her story known.

Your colleague Naomi Campbell he wrote: “I applaud you for your courage and your strength. For sharing your experience and not being a hostage anymore. I can’t imagine the mental pain you’ve had to go through these five years. You are already free. Remember who you are and what you have achieved and your influence in the lives of everyone you have touched, something you continue to do by sharing your story. I am proud of you and I support you in every step you take”.

Evangelista sued Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc, the parent company of CoolSculpting, for 50 million dollars in damages since she has not been able to return to work, unlike her generation peers, such as Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford or Claudia Schiffer, who continue to climb the catwalk and star in campaigns.
