Mexican superstar singer Luis Miguel made headlines last week when he busted out soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “Siuuu” goal celebration at the end of his November 22 concert in Mexico City.
In a fan-shot video that has since gone viral, a smiling Luis Miguel is seen imitating Ronaldo’s signature celebratory pose, arms outstretched and head tilted back, after finishing his final song of the night at Arena CDMX. The crowd roared in response, with some even joining in with shouts of “Siuuu!”
It seems El Sol de México is a fan of Portuguese striker Ronaldo, known as “El Bicho.”
Luis Miguel’s History with Soccer
While little is known about what team Luis Miguel supports, if any, the singer has hinted at an appreciation for the beautiful game in the past.
In a 1999 interview, while touring South America, he remarked with a laugh that he enjoys playing soccer recreationally “as a striker, to score goals.”

Additionally, in the Netflix biographical series on his life, his former manager Hugo López is shown with a magazine photo of Argentine player ‘Beto’ Alonso and his River Plate squad after winning the prestigious Copa Libertadores tournament in 1987 – perhaps indicating some River Plate fandom.
As a young singer, Luis Miguel was also photographed meeting legend Diego Maradona at his Boca Juniors club facilities. In another story, his ex-manager Matías McCluskey shared that in 1992, a 22-year-old Luis Miguel insisted on secretly attending a Boca Juniors match at the iconic Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires by donning a disguise.
So while Luis Miguel’s exact allegiances are unclear, he certainly seems to enjoy soccer. And his recent shoutout to Cristiano Ronaldo delightfully surprised fans and went viral across social media.
