Actress and singer Maite Perroni told reporters Sunday outside Mexico City International Airport that her solo music career is essentially over, describing it as “a closed chapter in my life.” However, she left room for potential collaboration if her former pop group RBD reunites again.
“Well, no more. According to an Instagram post from Eden Dorantes TV,” music is already a closed chapter in my life unless something is done with RBD,” Perroni said. “But if not, no more.”
Perroni was a Latin pop phenomenon RBD member from 2004 to 2008. The group recently completed their highly-anticipated Soy Rebelde reunion tour in early 2023 across Mexico and Latin America, which Perroni called “successful.” There is fan speculation and hope for another RBD tour in 2025, but Perroni said while she’s open to it, nothing is confirmed yet.
“The truth is I don’t know what’s going to happen,” she told reporters. “There are a lot of things to talk about before it becomes a reality, not for now.”
Recently, the singer has focused more on acting roles than music. Regarding a return to telenovelas or series, she said she remains very open.
“I love them, and I have no qualms. On the contrary, it is my origin, where I started to build my career, so the truth is that if there is an interesting project, I will always be open to listening,” Perroni said.
She also prioritizes family over her career these days after her December 2022 wedding to director Andrés Tovar. Perroni is not ruling out having more children in the future.
