Man killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide in a hallway of a building in New York

A man fatally shot his girlfriend inside an apartment building in the Bronx before turning the gun on himself early this morning, the New York police reported.

Kristina Jones, 41, died when her boyfriend shot him in the neck in the hallway on the 5th floor of his building on Williamsbridge Road, Allerton neighborhood, shortly after midnight. He then shot himself in the head, police said.

The 42-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. A weapon was found near his body.

Jones was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The circumstances that led to the murder-suicide were not immediately known, delimited New York Post.

In a similar case also in the Bronx, a Hispanic man was fatally shot in the head last month after shooting his wife in the foot in their home.

In NYC, gun violence continues to be unleashed in 2022. Specifically, homicides experienced a 35% increase in July compared to last year. Shooting victims and weapons incidents also rose nearly 10%.

The rise in shootings confirms the experts’ fears that New York would experience a spike in violence this summer, both with firearms and white. However, in August, Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams celebrated that compared to 2021, shootings had dropped 11%, citing a 104% rise in seizures of illegal weapons.
