“I would like to congratulate Guillermo del Toro, Mexican film director, for winning the Oscar Award for his film Pinocchio. Our congratulations to this Mexican, an exceptional filmmaker! Guillermo del Toro is a source of pride for Mexico,” said the Chief Executive.

AMLO’s congratulations came after a wave of ovations from other Mexican politicians, who through their social networks have joined the patriotic celebration after the film directed by del Toro for Netflix won the victory over other productions such as Marcel the Shell with Shoes, Red (Disney), Puss in Boots 2 and The Sea Monster.
“Many congratulations Guillermo del Toro for being a three-time Oscar winner in your career. We Mexicans are happy to see you succeed with Pinocchio,” said Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

You are the pride of Mexico,” he wrote.

Although the Mexican political sphere has pronounced itself on Guillermo del Toro’s victory in the 95th edition of the awards granted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, members of the Mexican entertainment industry have also sent their congratulations on social networks, making his name a trend along with the messages of support from his followers and fans.
Guillermo del Toro’s emotional speech and why he wore a blue bow tie
Fulfilling the predictions given by critics and specialists in the seventh art and after his victory in awards such as the Golden Globes, BAFTA and the Hollywood Critics Association, Guillermo del Toro won his third Oscar award thanks to Pinocchio, after previously achieving it with The Shape of Water -Best Picture and Best Director-.
“Animation is cinema, animation is not a genre. Animation is ready to be taken to the next level. We are all ready, please help us. Let’s keep animation within the animation. I want to thank Netflix for believing in us to make this film. I want to dedicate this award to the love of my life, my wife Kim, and my kids. To my mom and dad, who are no longer here, but they are here with me. I am their son, and I love them. Thank you,” he said.
In the company of co-director Gustafson and co-producers Gary Ungar and Alex Bulkley, Mark commented, “Stop-motion is still alive and well (…) I want to thank my beautiful wife, Sebastian as well and this man (Guillermo del Toro), who is the genesis of everything, including my problem with alcohol.”

The accessory was a clear message of support for refugees from the Russia-Ukraine war conflict. It was a blue bow tie with the note #Withrefugees (con los refugiados, in Spanish) written on its relief.
