To detonate economic development in southeastern Mexico, the country set itself a goal attract a $ 25 billion investment between 2022 and 2024 from US firms.
Tatiana Clouthier, Secretary of Economy, and Marcelo Ebrard, Head of Foreign Relations, they met governors of entities in the area, the ambassador Ken salazar and US businessmen, where they discussed an action plan that focuses on that region and can “increase trade and investment.”
To achieve the investment goal, the Mexican ministries need, “an action plan will be defined, which will be in charge of the Ministry of Economy ”.
The meeting took place in Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco. Representatives from Campeche, Chiapas, Veracruz, Yucatán and Quintana Roo participated.
The US Chamber of Commerce in Mexico and a diverse delegation of US companies also attended.
Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard said that this meeting is a Follow-up to the High-Level Economic Dialogue between Mexico and the United States. He added that the need to invest in the south-southeast of Mexico and in Central America has been put on the table, to address the root causes of migration and insecurity.
