The always controversial Mike Tyson once again went through the microphones and did not keep anything about his opinion of current boxing. The first thing that has created a stir is about who he considers is the best boxer of the moment: the Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez.

In an interview for Shay Shay Club with Shannon Sharpe, the ex-pugilist -and quite a pop star- considered that, with everything done recently, Canelo is the best boxer pound for pound.

“If you have to go with one, it is with Canelo”

Mike Tyson asked about the best boxer today

His extensive record of world titles makes Tyson an accredited voice in boxing, so each of his opinions is considered weighty and valued.

The ‘Iron Mike’ also gave his prediction about who should be Álvarez’s next rival, and did not hesitate to mention David Benavidez, also a Mexican.

Benavidez is a great fighter, he is a monster and I would love to see him fight Canelo. If the fight does not happen, it will be a shame, “said the retired boxer.

On the possibility that the current unified super middleweight champion faces Jermall Charlo, Tyson indicated that “it would be an interesting fight” and that its viability will depend on the money that is discussed for the lawsuit.

Tyson spoke about the death of his mother

In his conversation with Shannon Sharp, Mike Tyson also talked a bit about a delicate moment in his life: the death of his mother.

“One of the best things that happened to me was the death of my mother, because my mother took care of me like a baby. She would never have gotten into street fights, she would never have defended me”

Mike Tyson’s mother died when the boxer was 16 years old, leaving custody to trainer Cus D’Amato, who ended up being his most important figure in the sport and also in his home.
