It seems like a long time has passed since the last traditional experience of Mario Kart in some console of Nintendo.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came to Switch back in 2017, which itself was a reissue of the 2014 Wii U entry, and with the Mario Kart Tour for mobile devices and the experimental Switch title Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit filling the void ever since, some fans are beginning to wondering when the next ‘main’ game will arrive.
According to a trusted gaming industry analyst, the next entry might be popping up faster than you think.
The Dr. Serkan Toto Kantan Games’ has shared its 2022 gaming predictions with GamesIndustry.biz, noting that it believes the industry will likely see fewer delays this year and that crypto games could be about to get even bigger.

Will Mario Kart 9 arrive on the Switch in 2022?
However, among those predictions, Toto looks at what he calls ‘Mario Kart 9’, a true successor to Mario Kart 8 that he says is “in active development.”
“I am aware that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling very well on the Nintendo Switch, but Mario Kart 9 is in active development (and comes with a new twist) and Nintendo might make fun of it this year.”
So a new Mario Kart game? With a whole new twist? And could it show off this year? Yes please.
Nintendo could bring Mario Kart to mobile
Toto also believes that 2022 could see another mobile version of a classic IP of Nintendo:
“On mobile devices, Nintendo has been very quiet since the launch of Mario Kart Tour in 2019, but I think 2022 is when we will see an established IP reaching smart devices again.”
In the same summary of analyst predictions, it was predicted that a successor to the next generation of Switch it could reach “the end of 2024”.
