Contradictions in the value of jewels

For its part, Dana Callahan, a spokesperson for the security company Brink’s, reported in a statement that the amount of the stolen jewelry will be covered.

Based on the information customers provided us before shipping their items, the total value of the lost items is less than $10 million. We are working with law enforcement, and will fully reimburse our customers for the value of their stolen property, in accordance with the terms of our contract,” the text reads.

It transpired that the merchandise had been loaded onto the Brink’s truck on the night of July 10 after the conclusion of an exhibition organized by the International Gem and Jewelry Show in San Mateosouth of San Francisco.

In this sense, Brandy Swanson, director of the group, revealed that the purpose of moving the jewels was to take them to the Pasadena Convention Center, northeast of Los Angeles, where another event would take place.

Contrary to what Brink’s mentions, Swanson He claims that between 25 and 30 bags were taken, which contained an unknown number of individual pieces, but that their 18 owners value more than 100 million dollars.

Likewise, the directive reiterates that due to the high value of jewels, it is common for those who sell them to choose to try to insure part of their merchandise.

“These are family operators. They are devastated, as some of these people have lost their entire livelihood,” he emphasizes.

It should be noted that the International Gems and Jewelry Fair organizes about 45 exhibitions a year in the country.
