Finally we will have a super champion of the medium weights: Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will face Caleb Plant in November, with the four 168-pound titles at stake.
The most anticipated fight of the second half of the year will be a reality. ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger gave the scoop. Sources linked to the aforementioned media reported that the event will be presented by PBC together with Canelo Promotions.
After weeks of negotiating, the two fighters have reached an agreement to unify all the belts. Let’s remember that the man from Guadalajara holds three titles at 168 pounds, while Plant has the other belt.
Canelo (56-1-2) turned his gaze to Plant just as he beat Billy Joe Saunders. His goal is clear: to be the unified champion. For his part, the American will put his undefeated (21-0) at stake against the best rival he could face.
The table is set for a new fight of the year. For the fight that will see a super champion born.
