Three-layer surgical masks

The specialist specifies that the cloth masks can continue to be used, but that it is on a three-layer surgical mask.

“We need to wear at least a three-layer surgical mask (…) You can wear a cloth mask on top of that, but don’t just wear a cloth mask“, Indicated the medical analyst.

The KN95, the most recommended

Although it requires whatThe indicated thing is to use KN95 masks, however this conflicts with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), which calls for this type of mask to be used as a priority for health personnel

Wen’s recommendation is seconded by Erin Bromage, associate professor of biology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, who states that the most effective masks are the N95, according to what was published by CNN.

Best Masks

For Jerome Adams, a former Surgeon General urges the promotion of higher quality masks, since those made of single-layer fabric are not enough to stop the contagion of Ómicron.

“We need to promote better, high-quality masks everywhere, because at this time a single-layer fabric mask is not enough against omicron,” said the specialist.

“We need more evidence. We need better masks. This is how we get through this, ”Adams insisted.

Discussions about the use of masks and of what type they occur in the midst of the advance of the Omicron variant, which was detected for the first time in South Africa, at the end of November.
