If you’ve ever imagined what it would be like to stay as a royal, you might be able to experience it for yourself: a house that belonged to Queen Elizabeth IIlocated on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, is available for rent on Airbnb.
This is the closest property to the Sandringham House estate, where the royal family traditionally spends Christmas and New Years.
Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, also have a residence at the estate. Queen Elizabeth II gifted them the 10-bedroom Anmer Hall after they married in 2011according to People.
The house for rent, meanwhile, is known as the Garden House and was the former home of the queen’s chief gardener. It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
This Thursday, Buckingham Palace reported that Queen Elizabeth II was under medical supervision because doctors are “concerned for the health of His Majesty”. Relatives of the monarch traveled to Scotland to be with her.
Minutes after 1:30 p.m. ET, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II had died at the age of 96after spending 70 years at the head of the British monarchy.
The story of a very cozy royal house
The royal family has owned the house since 1862when it was purchased as a gift to Prince Albert for his 21st birthday, according to the estate’s official website.
The brick house, described on Airbnb as a “lovely hideaway,” can hold up to eight people as well as three dogsand “it’s about appreciating the great outdoors and the beautiful gardens it’s in.”
The ad notes that tAll the furniture and pictures in the house were once in a royal residencethe listing says, and the two-story house has plenty of room to relax. An informal garden to the side of the house has a paved patio and charcoal barbecue.
But to book a stay, guests will need to do it fast and with long-term plans: the dates are already full until February 2024. And staying there will cost more than $400 dollars, per night.
However, it is likely that after the death of the monarch, the interest in staying in this place increases And the dates get further and further apart.
Guests will be within walking distance of the property’s visitor center, the Sandringham Cafe, a museum and the nearly 500-acre country park, according to the Airbnb listing.
Just a short drive away are the beaches of North Norfolk, as well as quintessential English towns.
