New York Mets pitcher Edwin Diaz suffered an injury last Saturday in Puerto Rico’s game against the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, possibly taking him out of the 2023 MLB season. Still, despite this, the pitcher is calm and confident in the first photo to be published after his successful surgery.
According to a post on Instagram this Saturday from Diaz’s wife, Nashaly, the pitcher is on the bed at the clinic where he underwent surgery seeking to correct the right kneecap injury he suffered in celebration after fanning all three batters.
In the text she posted next to the image of the savior, the model thanked the support of all the fans and friends who wished a speedy recovery to the Puerto Rican. However, she was sincere, stating that facing a situation like this is difficult.
“Thank you all for your nice messages, good vibes, and positive comments. We prepare for many things but NEVER for these situations and how they hurt when they happen,” Nashaly wrote.
Katia Lindor, wife of Puerto Rico star and Diaz’s Mets teammate Francisco Lindor, was also seen in the comments, auguring well wishes.
“We will miss you. Speedy recovery,” she said.
Although he is initially expected to miss at least six months, Diaz recently commented that it is possible that his recovery could occur in a shorter period of time, hoping that sooner rather than later, his name can be heard again in the stands at Citi Field.
