Ray was murdered months after the meeting with the former footballer – Photo: Special / Courtesy
Raymundo Isidro Castro, alias el Ray, regional leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) was killed during a fight in a prison where he was detained, months after his meeting with the governor and former Mexican soccer player, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, in 2019. On social media already circulates the photos of the corpse of Ray, who was the operator of Nemesio Oseguera, el Mencho, one of the most wanted drug lords in Mexico and the United States. For his part, Cuauhtémoc Blanco said that the photo, where he appears with Ray and other criminals, “is a revenge of narco-politicians” and denied that he has ties to the drug cartels.
Currently free and presumably responsible for the attack against a social leader in Morelos.
Right. “El Ray”, leader of the #CJNG murdered inside a prison in Morelos at the end of October 2019 (months after the meeting with the governor).

According to Mexican media, the photos of Ray’s lifeless body were stolen from the cell phone of a woman known as “La Jefa”, arrested at the end of 2021 and accused of being the leader of “Guerreros Unidos”, a cartel that operates in Morelos, state governed by Cuauhtémoc Blanco. It should be noted that Guerreros Unidos is a rival group of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel.
What did El Cuauh say after the leak of a photo of his meeting with drug traffickers?
Cuauhtémoc Blanco dissociated himself from any link with leaders of the CJNG and another organized crime group, known as Los Tlahuicas. The former soccer player commented that he had already provided information to the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate and the dissemination of an image, in which he poses with three drug traffickers, is an “attack by narco-politicians.”
Previously, a photo was released in the possession of the news outlet El Sol de México, where Cuauhtémoc Blanco wears a plaid shirt and hugs Irving Eduardo Solano, head of the CJNG plaza (in a white shirt), Homero Figueroa, leader of Los Tlahuicas (red shirt), and Raymundo Isidro Castro, Ray, the murdered leader of the CJNG (he wears a navy blue shirt of the Pumas soccer team).
