Qualification for the 2023 World Cup: Dominican could not defend their home against Canada and lost the undefeated

The selection of Canada defeated the Dominican Republic on Saturday 85-79 in Santo Domingo, in the match corresponding to the second phase of the qualifying window of the Americas to the 2023 Basketball World Cup.

The away team ruled the roost throughout the game and the Dominican team was below practically the entire gameonly getting to equal the score on one occasion (19-19), at the end of the first quarter.

The Dominican escort Víctor Liz, with 29 points, was the match’s top scorerplayed at the Palacio de los Deportes in the Dominican capital.

Canada leads Group C with 6 points, followed by the Dominican Republic, which conceded its first loss and has 5 points.

In the other match of the day in Group C, the Bahamas obtained their first victory in the tournament against the Virgin Islands (86-74), which added their third loss in three games.

This Sunday the Dominican Republic will play against the Bahamas, while Canada will face the Virgin Islands.
