Reward of $10,000 offered after torso of unidentified male found floating between Staten Island and Union County

A human torso was discovered floating between New York and New Jersey, prompting a homicide investigation, authorities in Elizabeth (NJ) reported.

Patrol units responding to the boardwalk on South Front Street just before 5 p.m. Tuesday found the torso of a white male floating in the area where the Elizabeth River and the Arthur Kill tidal strait converge, between Staten Island (NYC) and Union and Middlesex Counties (NJ).

The man has not been identified. Anyone with information should call the Elizabeth Police Department at 908-558-2041. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by phone at 908-654-TIPS (8477) or online at www.uctip.org. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered, NBC News detailed.

In a similar case, yesterday in NYC’s Harlem River, Warren Garrett (13), a boy who had been missing since Friday, May 12, was found lifeless. Authorities are still searching for his friend Alfa Barrie (11), as it is thought that they were together.
